In a world where communication is the core of a rapidly developing technological growth across disciplines, the Indo-Caribbean Society (ICS) moves forward to collaborate across academia and creative expressions. This was demonstrated when Texila’s medical students and faculty produced performing arts expressions at our inauguration, 2019. This is also evident when students and faculty interact with communities during clinical outreach and cultural exchanges with different public and civic organisations.
Our heritage cultures are vast and multifaceted yet share a common core across ICS’s member countries. Academia has added a perspective that reflects and celebrates who we are and where we have come from, over generations of inter-relations and cross-pollination. We are indeed multiple peoples with a common heritage.
ICS provides the space for us to collaborate and share our creative expressions and academic products among our members and beyond. Using multiple platforms, we can learn more about shared art forms among member countries. We can discuss similarities and differences, share challenges, aspirations, dreams, and goals. We can celebrate common milestones.
There is so much we can do together as a society. Providing a forum for the publication of creative and academic expressions is just one outlet. Let’s form a think-tank and pursue common goals, create new forms of sharing across borders, celebrate our successes, and inspire each other from our simplest to our most complex endeavors. We are a multidisciplinary society reaching into the future for the gains of current and future generations. Let us use all available and appropriate technology to embrace all opportunities.
